Crafting Lapel Pin Badges for Expression and Style

Lapel pins and badges have long been symbols of achievement, identity, and personal style. Whether you’re wearing them as an accessory or as part of an organisation. These small items can convey a message without saying a word. This case study explores the appeal of lapel pins, the different options and how we can help you with your custom badges.

Pin Badges with Style and Significance

The goal is always to create great lapel pins. The pin badges should not only be stylish, but also meaningful for wearers. Lapel pins are so called as they are commonly placed on the jacket’s lapel or top, they allow individuals to show the world their affiliations, accomplishments, or personal tastes. They are also known as badges. Once a metal badge becomes larger and more ornate then it could also be called a brooch.

However, the challenge lies in balancing the pin badge style with the budget and needs of the customer.

Different Pin Styles:

Soft enamel pin badges – the soft enamel pin are the most cost-effective option. The characteristic is that the enamel is low and the raised metal outlines the design. These pins are die stuck to any size and shape you can imagine.  The colours are bold and vibrant. This makes them an ideal choice for fundraising events or promotional items, allowing you to showcase your designs without breaking the bank.

Die-stamped metal badges – These are badges that have no colour. These pins are die stuck to any size and shape you can imagine.  They are usually plated in gold or silver. There are other options to make the pin badges more like vintage pins including antique bronze or antique silver finishes. They are great for logos and branding.

Enamel badges – the standard enamel is hard, cold enamel that can be polished back to the surface of the badge.  It can then be polished to give the badge a shiny finish. These too can be plated in various different metal finishes. They are great for the promotion of clubs, brands or organisations.

Button badges   – it is not a style of badge that we are often asked to produce, but if you wanted a low-cost option for 1000s of badges then we’d be happy to help. This makes them an ideal choice for charity events or giveaway items, allowing you to promote your cause at a low price point.

The Fitting Options:

Pin post and clutch- the classic badge fitting is the simple pin post combined with the butterfly clutch. Classic and great for a secure hold for your pin badge.

Pin post and top hat clutch – the premium version of the standard clutch is the top hat. The best option for premium badges.

Long stem lapel pin – the stick pin style is more vintage but is still a good option for badges to be worn on clothes. Great for adding to a suit through the lapel button hole.

Magnetic findings – we can supply badges with magnet backs to prevent damage to clothing. These are good for name badges for example.

Brooch style badge fitting – if you wanted to have a pin that opens and closes on a hinge and locks securely then this is the badge fitting for you. This can also be referred to as the safety clutch style badge finding.  These are best for larger badges, or precious metal badges.
